Where the Sidewalk Ends
I bought this book as a child right before my family went on a vacation. It was a long road trip and I read every poem in the book. It has always been one of my favorites. This book is a great way to introduce kids to poetry, (not that I have read any poetry books since). Anyway, the poems are usually silly poems that children enjoy. This book should be in every home.

We had this book in my home when I was growing up, too. We all thought the poems and drawings were hilarious and had so much fun reading it aloud together. Shel Silverstein has a great sense of humor and knows how to tickle a kid's funny bone! I think one of the biggest reasons we loved him was he was always a little bit naughty. :) I mean, he writes about a snail that eats your finger if you pick your nose, a boy that is trying to sell his baby sister, and washing a behind "that I'm sure wasn't mine." We loved it!
